Rimpton is a small village and associated parish within the English county of Somerset. It is a beautiful village with a lovely church, vibrant village hall and friendly community.

Please use the menu above to find out more about the Parish Council, who its members are and its activities. On this website you will find a variety of information about Rimpton Parish Council and other village amenities which, hopefully, will be of use to both residents and visitors.

The Parish Council is a statutory local authority established under the Local Government Act 1972 and operates in the area of the defined civil parish of Rimpton. The Council is made up of councillors elected by the electors of the Parish and each year the Council elects one councillor to be the Chair of the council. The Council has a paid officer who organises meetings and helps carry out the council’s decisions – this officer is known as the Parish Clerk.

The Council is accountable to the electors of the Parish; elections are held every four years. The time and place of any meeting will be published on this website at least three days before the meeting. Meeting agendas and minutes will also be posted on this website. All meetings are open to the general public: Members of the public cannot speak whilst normal business is being conducted, however, the Council will suspend business and hold “open time” when members of the public will be invited to address the Council on an issue that concerns them (such as a planning application).
